BB&T Ballpark will be the new home of the Charlotte Knights minor league baseball team after spending the last 20+ years in Ft. Mill, South Carolina, and will have a capacity of 10,000. The new stadium will host events throughout the year in addition to Knights baseball games. Kimley-Horn & Associates provided site civil and infrastructure design services for the new stadium. The presentation focused on the challenges of designing and constructing a stadium within the urban core, including challenges relating to infrastructure improvements, land planning and minimizing impacts to adjacent property owners, while providing a state of the art venue that seamlessly fits into the urban center of Charlotte.
