Paul Zia Distinguished Lecture at the McKimmon Conference Center at NCSU

Few construction projects have received as much attention as the effort to rebuild at the site of the twin towers of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan. Ahmad Rahimian, Yoram Eilon, Allan Paull and Juan Estevez will deliver an address entitled “Rebuilding the World Trade Center,” discussing their involvement in the structural engineering and construction of 1 World Trade Center, which was built at Ground Zero following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Standing at 1,776 feet, 1 World Trade Center is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.

Rahimian, director of building structures for WSP USA, will describe the creative design process. Eilon, senior vice president of building structures for WSP USA, will specifically discuss the design of 1 World Trade Center. Paull, senior vice president of civil and structural engineering, and Estevez, senior project manager, of Tishman Construction, an AECOM company, will discuss construction aspects of the project.

The four will speak as part of the Paul Zia Distinguished Lecture Series, an annual event presented by the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at NC State.

Admission is free, but registration is required at go.ncsu.edu/lecture-registration. Donations will be gladly accepted to support the Paul Zia Education Fund for civil, construction, and environmental engineering students at NC State.
